Zhu Xi's conversations — foundational Song Neo-Confucianism (Lixue / School of Principle)
The Zhuzi Yulei (Conversations of Master Zhu, Arranged Topically) is the major compilation (1270) of Zhu Xi's recorded conversations with students (1170-1200) — central thesis: reality consists of "principle" (li) and "material force" (qi); the cultivation of "the investigation of things" (gewu) reveals the principle inherent in each thing; the heart-mind is to be brought into accord with the principles of the cosmos. Zhu Xi's synthesis became orthodox Chinese state ideology (Ming-Qing) and the foundational text of "School of Principle" (Lixue) Neo-Confucianism.
