Lanquidity (recorded August 17, 1978; released on Sun Ra's Philly Jazz / Evidence labels) is a late-1970s Sun Ra Arkestra album recorded in a single session at Bob Blank's New York studio. The album fuses free-jazz, funk-rhythm, and electronic-textural elements — a more accessible cosmic-jazz than some of the late-1960s avant-garde Arkestra work, but with continued mythological-philosophical framing. Wider audiences than the earlier Saturn-label recordings; standard introductory recording in late-twentieth-century Sun Ra reception.
