Time and Free Will (Essai sur les données immédiates de la conscience) is Henri Bergson's 1889 doctoral thesis — central thesis: lived time (durée) is qualitatively heterogeneous, indivisible, and irreducible to the spatialized time of science; the freedom of the will follows from the qualitative heterogeneity of psychic states.
