Capital: Critique of Political Economy (Das Kapital. Kritik der politischen Ökonomie) is Karl Marx's magnum opus on the critique of political economy — a three-volume project spanning Volume I (1867, published in Marx's lifetime), Volume II (1885, posthumous), and Volume III (1894, posthumous; both edited by Engels). The work develops: the labour theory of value; the commodity form and commodity fetishism; surplus value as the source of profit; the historical tendencies of the capitalist mode of production; the reproduction schemas; the falling rate of profit; the relation of industrial and finance capital. This entry serves as the standalone reference to the whole Capital project; for Volume I specifically see marx-capital-vol-1.

Is the universe running out of usable energy?
