al-Kindī's 9th-c. foundational text of Arabic-Islamic philosophy — the first Arab philosopher
Fī l-Falsafa al-Ūlā (On First Philosophy) is al-Kindī's 9th-c. foundational text of Arabic-Islamic philosophy — the first major systematic philosophical work in Arabic. Central thesis: the Aristotelian first philosophy (metaphysics) is the noblest science; God is the true One; the world is created in time (al-Kindī's thesis here departing from Aristotle's eternal world). al-Kindī is widely called "the first Arab philosopher".
