Berdyaev's 1947 'Beginning and the End' — eschatological metaphysics of creative freedom
Published in English in 1952 (Russian original 'Opyt eskhatologicheskoi metafiziki: Tvorchestvo i ob'ektivatsiia', Paris 1941, full publication 1947), 'The Beginning and the End' is Berdyaev's late systematic statement of eschatological metaphysics. Against the 'objectivation' that fragments the human into roles, the book argues for a creative-personalist eschatology in which the end (eschaton) is not a future event but the breakthrough of free creative existence against the determined-objectivated world.
