Avicenna's 11th-c. late mature work — Sufi-affined mystical philosophy
The Kitāb al-Ishārāt wa-l-Tanbīhāt (Remarks and Admonitions) is Avicenna's late mature philosophical work — central thesis: the final stations of the philosophical-mystical ascent (the maqāmāt of the "gnostics" = ʿārifūn) transcend ordinary Peripatetic philosophy. The work is the most explicitly mystical of Avicenna's major works and was the major influence on subsequent Eastern Islamic philosophy (especially Suhrawardī and Mullā Ṣadrā).
