Pope Francis's 2018 'Gaudete et Exsultate' — apostolic exhortation on holiness in the modern world
Promulgated 19 March 2018, 'Gaudete et Exsultate' ('Rejoice and Be Glad') is Pope Francis's apostolic exhortation on the call to holiness in the contemporary world. The document addresses everyday holiness, the dangers of contemporary 'gnosticism' and 'Pelagianism' (Francis's terms for two persistent spiritual errors), the Beatitudes as the holy path, discernment, and the spiritual battle. The exhortation continues the practical-pastoral emphasis of the Francis pontificate.
