Thomas Valentine

Biography
Of Christ's College Cambridge, then Chalfont St Giles in Buckinghamshire from 1631 — the parish where John Milton would later live in retirement at the Restoration. Valentine attended the Assembly intermittently through the mid-1640s and contributed to the catechetical committee in a minor capacity. He preached the parliamentary fast sermon Two Sermons (1647). Ejected from Chalfont St Giles in 1662 under the Act of Uniformity; died in 1665.

The great majority of the sitting members were English parish ministers of Presbyterian conviction. They formed the drafting core of the Assembly, manning its three standing committees and supplying most of the text of the Confession, the two Catechisms, and the Directory for Public Worship.
