John Bond
1612–1676
Master of Trinity Hall Cambridge; preacher of parliamentary fast sermons.
Biography
Of St Catharine's Hall Cambridge under Richard Sibbes, then preacher at Exeter and (from 1645) Master of Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Bond was a younger Presbyterian, made Master of the Savoy in London (1646) and Professor of Law at Gresham College (1649). He preached fast sermons before the Long Parliament (Salvation in a Mystery, 1644; A Sermon Preached in Exon, 1643) and contributed to the catechetical work. Ejected from Trinity Hall at the Restoration in 1660 and from the Savoy in 1662; died in 1676.

The great majority of the sitting members were English parish ministers of Presbyterian conviction. They formed the drafting core of the Assembly, manning its three standing committees and supplying most of the text of the Confession, the two Catechisms, and the Directory for Public Worship.
