Observer Analysis (Full Text)
Empiricism The observer is a sensory creature — embodied, situated in one place at one time, and dependent on experience as the sole source of knowledge. Nothing is known prior to perception; the mind begins as a blank slate written upon by the senses. Direct observation is the starting point and the final court of appeal. Over time, sense impressions accumulate into a growing body of empirical knowledge that can be organized and transmitted. The observer is passive in the sense that it receives rather than constitutes reality — the world impresses itself upon the mind. Multiple observers can compare their impressions and build a shared, empirically grounded understanding.
